- A1 The National Research Institute.

-A2 NRI is located opposite the University of Papua New Guinea and the National Botanical Gardens, Corner Goro-Kaeaga Road and Waigani Drive, in the National Capital District.

-A3 NRI conducts policy analysis and research into political, legal, education, social, environmental and population issues to influence public policy. The Institute also analysis data and carries out research on issues of national importance and briefs the selected parliamentary committees of the Government of Papua New Guinea.
-A4 The NRI is an independent statutory authority. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1988 and confirmed by the IASER (Amendment) Act 1993.
-A5 The Institute has a workforce of 62 people. Currently there are 20 research staff, 6 cadet researchers, four ASF advisers, and 32 support staff.

-A6 NRI conducts research through four research divisions — the Economics Studies Division, Education Studies Division, Political and Legal Studies Division, and Social and Environmental Studies Division. The Research Divisions are currently focussed on four broad research programs — Wealth Creation, Universal Basic Education, Governance and the Public Sector and Environment and People. NRI research also cuts across issues such as Gender, HIV/AIDS, and Culture and Indigenous Knowledge.

-A7 NRI's research findings are disseminated at workshops, conferences and seminars. They are also published through a series of NRI publications and published as articles in the Post-Courier on 'Searchlight with NRI' and 'Accelerating Girls Education (AGE)'.
