It has being a pleasure for the NRI Web Design and Development Project team to contribute to the design and development of the new NRI Website. Despite having limited or no knowledge of how websites are designed and developed, the team used their committment, perseverance, and creativity to learn the skills to come up with the finished product.
The team was formed in May 2009 and one of the first things it did was to present to the Executive Management a Web Design and Development Business Plan Proposal. The proposal covered the Purpose Statement, Objectives of the Website, and identified the Audience among others. With approval from the Management, the team got to the exciting stage of the project and that was being taught how to use the Macromedia DreamWeaver Program, Macromedia Fireworks, and the Cascading Style Sheet.
The team is very fortunate to have had Mr. Nasser Kaviani, the Institute's Communication and Knowledge Management Adviser as our tutor and mentor. With over 15 years experience in developing websites, Nasser taught us his skills and experience with patience, humility, and he even had the time to attend to our little queries from time to time. For that we are grateful.
After undergoing five months of training, the team have learnt website design and development, and project management skills. The team is now working on its next projects that are the Institute's intranet and Database development and management.
Finally, a word of thanks goes to the Director Dr. Thomas Webster and the NRI Executve Management for having the confidence in the team to take on this project.
