The National Executive Council at its 57th meeting on 24th December, 2005 established the National Land Development Taskforce (NLDT) to implement the recommendations of the National Land Summit held at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology in Lae, in August, 2005.

  • The Way Forward

  • General Recommendations from the National Land Summit:

  • Day 1 - Land Administration

  • Day 2 – Land and Development

  • Day 3 – Land and Financial Institutions

The Terms of Reference

Three Major Tasks

  • How to improve land utilisation;

  • How to respond to disputes over land; and

  • How to reform customary land usage.

Taskforce Membership

  • The core members of the National Land Summit Coordinating Committee were retained as members of the NLDT and

  • These members represent

  • three key government departments,

  • two premier research institutes, and

  • two premier Universities in PNG.

  • The members are:
