| This program works to identify, analyse, and monitor attitudes, behavioural trends, and sociocultural and other factors that are drivers of the HIV epidemic in the rural and urban areas of PNG. This research will support the PNG National AIDS Council with reports on the status of behavioural indicators that are relevant to HIV and will identify policy implications based on this social research.
BSS Unit
The research program also hosts the Behavioural Surveillance Survey (BSS) Unit, which is collecting qualitative and quantitative data with populations more at risk of HIV, as prioritised by the National Department of Health. This program is supported by the Asian Development Bank and the Australian Government under the Health Sector Improvement Program [more].
HIV Seminar Series
The HIV Social Research Program also provides opportunities for policy makers, HIV stakeholders, and the public to engage with HIV-related research findings with our regular HIV Seminar Series. Every effort is made ensure these presentations are available on the web and in many cases these events have been filmed and the DVDs can be ordered from NRI [more].
